Feels Like The Weekend

It's strange being off work today... it kept feeling like the weekend as I'm not normally off on a Friday. I did mange to do some yard work, podcast stuff, and a bit of shopping. It hasn't really hit me that I no longer have a job and that I don't have to go back to that horrible job on Monday. Maybe I'll feel differently on Monday.. but for now it just feels like I'm off for the weekend.

Last Day with Deadliest Catch

It was a bitter sweet day today. Though I'm extremely excited to be getting off this crazy and chaotic show I'm sad to be leaving my co-workers/friend of the past few years. They are a great group of people and I have found some of life long friends in this bunch.

Today started with a laugh with my office full of balloons, which I did leave in my office until about 4pm, then Will and I popped hundreds of balloons.

For lunch I went out with my post crew, Stu, Lee, Roman, Alex, Tom, JRyan, Ben, Brian and Will. We went to BJ's and had a great goodbye lunch were we celebrated me being let go. When I got back from lunch my loggers Cat, Dan, Amy, Matt and Andrew came into my office with a goodbye cake and card.. it was very sweet.

Towards the end of the day I cleaned out my computer and turned it off for the last time. I went to each person and said my goodbye. It was sad but it's not like I'm going to not ever see these guys again, I just won't be seeing them everyday.

I said my final goodbye to my best buddy and the one person I will miss most Will, gave him one last hug, got in my jeep and drove off.

I don't think it's hit me that I'm not working for this show anymore.. I think it will when I get up tomorrow at 7am and realize I have no where to be.. time to close that chapter in my life and move on to bigger and better... well after I take a few months off :)

Surprise

Well today when I got into work for I notice a bunch of balloons on my front office door.. I thought "oh cool someone taped a bunch of balloons to my door. Then I went to open the door and felt the resistance, next thing I know tons of balloons come billowing out of my office and my co-work/best friend Will is standing in my office with a camera pointed at me. He along with fellow co-worker spent 4 hours blowing up 300+ balloons and filled my office up.

If you remember Will and I have had a back and forth practical joke-a-thon. He just had to get me one last time... it was AWESOME.

2nd to Last Day

Today at work I took down all my pictures and backed up my computer. Tomorrow is my final day and I really just want to hang out with my friends/co-workers one last time. I'm sad that I'm leaving them but excited to be leaving the show.

Moving On

Today my supervisor called and informed me that they have found a replacement for my position and that my current job would be over on Thursday...

As you can see from my picture I am extremely happy to be "let go" from this show. The show runner and I don't agree on how post should be ran. I like schedules and keeping things on time.. he doesn't. I like organization and open communication, he doesn't. I like too look at all the episodes as a whole, he likes looking at the one right in front of him and never mind the others ones that are being delayed by using all the resources for that one and only... I can go on.

My job as Post Production Supervisor is a stressful one, it always has been and I understand that, but this kind of extra stress is unnecessary and unwanted. It's better for me health wise to leave and deal with the lesser stress of finding another job. Harry and I got a good amount of money back from our Taxes and though that was suppose to go toward a fence around our house it will now be our back up plan for when I am jobless.

I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY knowing that I will not be on this sinking ship much longer. I feel horrible for leaving all these great people (with a few exceptions) to their fate.. the show will get done and on time, but the stress these guys will go through will be extreme..

I had a great run but it's time to move on to bigger and better.. can't wait to see what the future holds.

Work Woes Continue

Well it's been a week since I sat down with my two supervisors and they informed me that the show runner on the show I'm currently working asked for me to be replaced. Still don't really know what's going on, haven't heard from anyone. The show runner didn't talk to me all last week (with 1 exception where he asked me to help one of the editors out).

But the building manager came to me around 3pm and said, "I heard you were leaving" I was like really?? I then explained the past few weeks and said I had heard they were going to replace me but I haven't gotten any confirmation of when. He said that one of my supervisors that I had talked to last week told him that "Tim" would be coming in on Wednesday and will be running Max Post from here on out. I told him.. well this is the first I've heard of it. I have been waiting to hear any news at to my fate on this job. So I immediately called my supervisor and asked if I was being replaced on Wednesday with a guy named Tim. She was surprised that I knew but said that they had only interviewed a guy named Tim for my position but nothing has been set in stone yet.

So I'm back at square one. I'm fairly sure that I will be leaving this show just not sure when. For me the sooner the better as the not knowing part is kind of stressful.

Our House Warming

Got up early today and started cleaning, my job was cleaning all the rooms while Harry was doing all the floors. I started in the Guest room, then guest bathroom. I moved to the kitchen, living room, dining room and TV room. Then I did the master bathroom and master bedroom before finally finishing with the office. One last thing I did was put up "Before" pictures of major changes we made to the house, we had gone to Target the day before and printed out some 5x7 photos. I wasn't able to put up my Jason Palmer prints as it would take so much time to get them just right and I didn't want to do it half-ass.

Both Harry and I got done around 11:15am and Harry needed to get cleaned up as I had taken a shower when I got up. So he went to get ready and I went outback and started to set up the back deck and clean off all the chairs and tables. Once I was done with that we started to get the beer and soda ready as well as the chips and dip. We were ready!!!!

First person showed up around 12:30ish and then it was as steady flow of coming and goings. In all we had about 25 people show up. Couldn't ask for a more beautiful day, it was in the high 70's, there was a slight breeze (that disappeared for a while) and not a cloud in the sky. Everyone that came loved the house, loved our paint selections, loved the decorations we choose, loved the remodels that we did.. it was a great feeling to knowing all that hard work we put into this house really paid off and we worth all the blood, sweat and tears.

Folks really liked the "Before" photos, so glad we came up with that idea. And of course the backyard was everyone's favorite as we have one of the best views and it was so beautiful outside.

All in all it was a great house warming BBQ.

I'd like to Thank all those who Trekked out for the event. It's quite a drive but well worth it.

You can see more picture on my facebook page here.

Day Before House Warming

Today Harry and I have a ton of things to do before tomorrow. We were finally having our house warming party after 1 failed attempt back in Feburary when it was rained out. This time around it looks to be sunny and beautiful outside.

We've done a ton of work on the house and it's finally feeling like a home. We still need a few things like rug for our dining room and a coffee table to our living room but for the most part things look good. Today we focused one big thing and lots of small things. We knew we were going to wait to do the big cleaning tomorrow morning so today I worked on finishing up our "Star Trek" plate wall (it turned out GREAT). I worked on the Jason Palmer prints and putting them into their frames (which was a pain in the butt because they had to be just center). Harry got up and started to prep the hardwood floors and get them ready for their good cleaning tomorrow. We went shopping one last time for air blower, weed whacker and a few other items. I kept putting off the large project because I wasn't looking forward to doing it.

Finally there was nothing left to do and it was getting dark so I tackled the one big project in our office. When we painted a few months back we left an entire wall white as a friend of mine Greg Aronowitz is going to paint us a Star Trek Mural. Well he's such a busy guy and just hasn't had the time to do it and we've been looking at this white wall for 8 months and since it was our housewarming tomorrow I decided I was going to paint it.. so while we were out we purchased a gallon of the accent color in that room and started to paint. The hardest part was pulling the 2 desks back and trying not to break anything. I had about two feet of space between the wall and desks. It was tough trying to maneuver the ladder in such a small space and also not step in the paint tray. What was crazy is that the easiest part of the job was the actually painting and when I pulled off the painters tape the line were actually in good shape that I didn't feel I needed to repaint anything (I was so excited).

Later that night we went shopping for the BBQ, had to pick up hot dogs, hamburger, beer, soda and a much of other sides. There were 26 yes invites and 13 maybes so we bought food for 40 just to be on the safe side.

So all we have to do now is put up my Jason Palmer pictures and do one final cleaning of the house before noon tomorrow.

Man am I'm sore after painting.. I'm not as young as I use to be. :)

Podcasting and Stuff

Today I had an interview lined up with a Guild Fan for our upcoming podcast Ep. 15 pt. 2. So at 8pm Jenni and I got on skype with our friend Eva for the interview. It was quick and to the point lasting about 7 minutes.. it was a good though short interview.

After that I did a little editing work on the episode. Earlier that day I had gotten the Sean Becker Guild Something segment and so I cut in both of those segments. So all is left to do is cut in the SFX and do one final pass before I level it, convert it and then upload it.

I won't be posted until the End of April (I'm thinking Friday April 30th)

Gotta start planning to record our next episode.. man for a hobby this takes up alot of my time. :)

Guild Comic

Today the second issue of the Guild comic came out.. so while I was at lunch with my friend Brian we stopped by a local comic book shop and I picked up the comic.. I actually bought six issues, 3 of each covers. I also have another set on the way in the mail. But 1 set is for a friend in The Netherlands who asked me to purchase his since it costs him ($70) in shipping. The others will be for contest prizes. I hope to get Felicia and the cast to sign a few. Can't wait to read them.

The Latest Trends in Tattoo Designs

The Latest Trends in Tattoo Designs

Tattoo designs are becoming increasing popular. The older mind set of negativity towards tattoos are being phased out as they are quickly becoming the latest trend. The older generations are not happy about this idea, but are having to learn to accept it, the younger generation is welcoming the trend with open hands.

There are several reasons people get tattoos. The most obvious, as well as the most common, is the meaning behind the design. The idea for these designs tends to be brought about by spiritual ideas. Many people want to be able to wear their heritage with pride.

Remembrance tattoos have also become quite popular. Many people like to remember their lost loved one by having a tattoo done in their honor. This is often a sign of respect also. These designs will often contain the name of the person, but not always. Often a special symbol that has a certain meaning or memory directed towards that person is used instead.

Both men and women alike enjoy the angel wing tattoo that covers their entire back. These wings have a spiritual meaning, but are often used for their physical appearance. Depending on whether it is a man or a women that receives the tattoo it will have a more feminine or masculine touch. Depending on the preference of the person as well, color may be used to fill in the wings rather than black ink.

Flowers incorporated into the design are also quite popular. Girls will often times get this tattoo because of its physical appearance, as it attracts the eye. However, it also has spiritual meaning behind it. The flower represents the circle of life, death, and rebirth.

Positive messages, and hope for the future are often written on the person body. However, these messages are rarely written in the form of English words. Typically the message is seen in languages that can be written in symbols and designs rather than words.

Tattoos are extremely addicting. It is more common than not that a person will receive a single tattoo and then soon after receive another. With the increasing approval of society this is becoming more and more true. People wear their visible tattoos with pride and respect rather than hide them away as they used to. This is a nice way for the person to add a unique mark to themselves and to show their individuality.

The Worst Tattoo Sleeve Trends

    The Worst Tattoo Sleeve Trends

Tribal Sleeve - Leo Zulueta is credited with bringing tribal style tattooing from the South Pacific to the United States in the late 70's. But is was George Clooney's character in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn that caused the tribal sleeve to explode in popularity. Tribal sleeves may be the worst sleeve trend of all as they take another peoples tattoo culture, remove all the meaning and mock the origins of tattoo designs that date back centuries. They are also next to impossible to cover up once tattoo regret sets in.

Biomechanical Sleeve - Biomechanical tattooing was pioneered by tattoo artist like Aaron Cain and other tattooist in the San Francisco bay area. A breakaway from traditional style American tattooing, biomechanical uses images of the human flesh mixed with machine parts. Basically biomechanical tattoos mix organic images with inorganic images. It quickly became over used.

Flame Sleeve - No clear origins on the flame sleeve but whoever created it should be ashamed. The sleeve is not only hard to look at but is unbelievable boring for the tattoo artist. Flame tattoos are not only a waste of good skin but will also prove difficult to cover.

Random Cool Stuff Sleeve - A twist on the American style hodgepodge sleeve that is acquired over time, the random cool stuff sleeve is acquired quickly. The images often include skulls, flowers, brass knuckles, something with wings, maybe a couple of flames. A newer variation on this sleeve is to get random candy pieces or random kids toys tattooed as a sleeve.

Work - Wow

Well today I got a call from my supervisor about my email yesterday. She was really pushing for me to take the new job and I got a feeling so I asked, "Are they letting me going sooner then later? Is that why you are trying to get me to take the other job?" She didn't come out and tell me but I told her that I was fine if they let me go early, I'm very unhappy here and would rather be unemployed and able to look for another job then stay here for another 3 months. And if I'm let go I can collect unemployment insurance which will help while I'm looking for work. So I guess it's just a mater of time before they let me go. Was suppose to have a meeting with the show runner but it never happened.. will see if it happens today.

I saw a tweet about these T's and I am so close to buying one.. actually was going to buy one for me and my brother for his upcoming birthday. I got to checking out and realized that they don't take Paypal and I hate using my credit card to so closed the window but the more I look at them the more I want one. I'm sure I'll get one in the end. :)

Work - Made My Choice

Well I talked with Harry over the weekend and as much as I dislike my current job I can't take a demotion in position and a pay cut. Also Comic Con is at the end of July, Harry's family will be coming in from Austria in July/August and he and I plan to travel the west coast a bit in August. So if I took the new job I wouldn't be able to do all that as I wouldn't be able to take six weeks off of work.

So I'm going to email my supervisor and say thanks but no thanks I'll stick it out until this job ends.

Shopping

Harry and I went shopping again, seems like this is all we do on weekends, but we needed to find some borders for some picture frames that we got the previous week for my Jason Palmer Art for our TV room. While we were out I wanted to see if we could find some night stands for our guest bedroom.

We started at Ikea as we had looked everywhere for night stands and couldn't find ones we liked. After walking through the entire store we found some very cool night stands that we both liked. Next we purchased a side table lamp. We want something a bit funky and found a really cool sphere light. We also picked up some round candles for our candle sticks that are sitting on our mantle.

After that we had lunch/dinner at Chevy's then headed to Michael's to get the borders for the picture frames. There are six pictures so we opted to get three dark green and three dark blue borders for the picture.. they should compliment them well.

Jeep Top

For the past few months.. okay more like a year I have needed to replace my soft top on my Jeep. Every time it rained the top was so sun dried that the water would go right through and I would have to wear a hoodie so to keep from getting wet while driving. I also had towels on the seats because whenever it rained, they would get soaked.

I finally purchased one about five months ago and it's been sitting in my closet waiting to be put on. Now it sat there partly because I was lazy but in the instructions it says that when replacing the top it needs to be at least 70 degrees so the canvas will stretch. Well I could only do it on weekends and it seemed every weekend it was either cold or rainy and I couldn't do it.. on the weekends it was nice outside we would do something else and I would totally forget.

Anyways long story short when I took the dog out this morning the sun was beaming down and it felt very hot (and it was only 8:30am). So I check the temp and it was only 52 degrees but man did it feel hotter so I took a chance and decided that I was going to replace the top.

I read through the instruction, and I had to remove the old top.. once that was removed it was so much easier to understand the instructions as all I had to do was copy what I did to take off the top but backwards. It took about an hour and a half but I finally got everything back on and it looks great. I thought it was actually going to be very snug but it's actually kind of loose.. not too loose but not as tight as I had expected. Haven't taken it on the freeway yet so that will the real test.

Aunt Joyce's 50th Birthday

Today Harry and I headed down to my Mom's place for my Aunt's 50th Birthday party. Mom didn't want to do an "over the hill" party so instead she did a Hawaiian theme since my Aunt loves Hawaii. I went out the day before on my lunch and picked up a few "Hawaiian" shirts so we were set. It's funny as my Aunt was 10 years old when I was born, which makes me feel even older knowing that she is 50 which means I'll be 40 this year.

The party was a lot of fun, got to see lots of family that I don't get to see very often. It was great seeing my Aunt Paula and cousin Kathy who I haven't see since the death of my Uncle Richard five or so years ago. Got to spend some time with my Aunt Linda who I see very rarely and of course it's always nice to spend some time with my nephew Kenobi. And hanging with my Mom is always great as I don't get to do it as often as I would like.

We didn't get to stay as long as we would have liked.. my mom lives two hours away so that's four hour on the road already and Daisy can stay in the house for about 9 hours before she has to go outside.. so we stayed for about five hours before heading out.

It's always fun spending time with the family.. maybe it's because we don't do it very often so the time we do spend together is very special.

Work Woes

I haven't been talking much in my blog about my work issues. The show runner and I haven't been seeing eye to eye the past few weeks and he finally official complained about me to my boss who in turn brought the COO (Chief Operating Officer) to my office today to talk with me.

I won't go into great detail about our meeting needless to say that there was a lot of mis-communication. I told them I would not quit (yes it was that bad as I was thinking about it.) and that I would stay the remaining three months until my current show was over.

My supervisor told me of another position that would start in a few week. It was a demotion in position going from Post Production Supervisor to Lead Assistant Editor and the pay was also several hundred less then what I'm making now. I told her I needed to talk to Harry over the weekend and I'd get back to her.

So my option is to stick it out and just co-exist with the show runner and do the best job I can or leave for a lower position job with less pay. It might be an obvious decision for some but I am so unhappy at this current job I really have to think about it..

    I'll keep you posted.

Battlestar Galactica on Blu-Ray

I saw this deal on Amazon a few weeks ago where you could get the entire series of Battlestar Galactica on Blu-Ray for only $149.99, that's over $200 off. I loved that series and don't have any of it on DVD so I jumped at the opportunity to own it the entire thing. I'm Mention in an Article

I came across an article about a recent podcast I did with Felicia Day about Season 4 of The Guild. You can read the original article on MacGamer here I also cut and pasted into the blog. They don't mention me by name :( but they do call me "superhumanly nerdy interviewer" which I took as a compliment.

    Felicia Day podcast interview

Fans of The Guild, the super popular web-based show about six losers in an MMO guild, will be happy to find out that Felicia Day did a little interview about the upcoming season 4... audio, no less. Over at Knights of the Guild there's a short interview with the adored-by-geeks beauty about what to expect in the show's next season, which will arrive this summer. She hesitates to say a lot about the show (because who would want to ruin the surprises?) but, as the lead writer, she mentions that she's planning to go a little easier on the characters in this season after the seemingly endless abuse at the end of season 3. She says she's planning on putting them back together and making them comfortable once more as a "dysfunctional family". It's a neat interview with a superhumanly nerdy interviewer and should whet the appetites of those who love just listening to Day talk and imagining that they're sitting at their feet, staring up affectionately into her eyes (or whatever it is you guys do when you hear Felicia Day talk).

Legendary Scooter Travels Cross Country

    Legendary Scooter Travels Cross Country
, originally uploaded by Master Jeffrey.

I was emailed recently about a painted scooter named "Legend" by
Jeffrey Holmes. He painted his 49cc 2006 TnG Venice with stars and stripes last summer and then took it on a 1400 mile cross country trip from from New Orleans to Key West and Back to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

It was a solo trip (no chase vehicle or other participants) and he still
drives her daily and is currently working on a 93 Buick Hearse aka Vodou 1. Cant wait to add that to our collection of Hearses here on art car central. Great work.

Sport Seats Model

To choose sport seats are depending on the make and model of your car you may or may not have a desirable looking interior, older car will have a striped look interior and may not match with the new colour scheme you have adopted. The two best and most popular things to do are either have your existing car seats re-trimmed or buy a set of bucket racing seats, most custom car garages will offer a re-trimming service and for a cost of about $ 2500 they will completely change the internal colours of your car to match the outside of the car.
The more popular method of upgrading your seats is to change the existing seat for a set of bucket racing seats, these seats are used in rally car and touring car style racing to keep the driver held securely in there seat so they would be ideal for a person who likes to go round corners fast.
The average pair of seats will set you back about $ 350,00 per seat but because of there construction and materials used they will also cut weight from your car which as we all know will make you go faster.

Body Kit Modification

Body kits, there are a very small amount of cars that can get away with a standard body and still turn heads but as in the case of most cars if your want a really good sporty and custom look from your car your going to have to kit it.
Depending on what car you own you may have a large amount of different body kits available to you, but if your are making a custom car that is not commonly modified then you are going to have to venture in to the world of customised body work.
Luckily there is hope for cars that don’t have body kits produced for your car, there are body shops that will take a kit designed for a different car and make it fit on to your ride.
The main draw back of doing this is cost not only do you have to buy the kit you will also have to pay for the time and efforts of your body shop to customise and fit your kit then your will also incur the cost of a full re-spray to get the car up to scratch.
If your are lucky enough to have a kit that fits right on to your car you may be able to kit your car up for under £1000 painted but if your are going for a customised look your may need to save up in the region of £3000 +, I know it is a hefty amount but the end results are well worth the money.

Magical Streamys Remix

I love this video and song... it's from a group called Auto-Tune the News. They do these hiliarious and incredible mash ups. If you don't know what mash up is, it's when you take several songs or movie clips or pieces of media and combine them into one piece of media.

This was played at this years Streamys and was on of the very few highlights. It's a Mash Up of several of the nominated websereis, including the one I work on The Guild.. check it out.

Automotive Design Schools

The production of automobiles and their sale is proof enough of the demand for them. This has given rise to the growth of the automotive design schools. The candidates spend hours building and testing a machine. Many young people who want to take on the challenge of designing automotives are choosing these institutions for the career options. People who are interested in mechanics are the ones who succeed in this field.

Machine details are accurate and removing flaws is difficult. The automotive design schools make sure that the minute details are given due importance. This ensures the smooth running of the machine and also its durability. Automotives have very complex machinery, which is difficult to manufacture and maintain. If they are tampered with, the failure and can lead to accidents.

Mechanic schools are also known as automotive design schools. There are many schools that provide the training to become a mechanical designer. The course is difficult, but these schools make the curriculum easy enough for the students to learn and practice what is taught. They have laboratories in the school premises. The growth in the industry has increased the demand for automotive designers. They are being recruited by the big firms and are paid well. The job opportunities are many but getting into the right company is difficult at times. The schools provide assistance to the students to get good jobs and decent salaries.

Apart from the above advantages, the automotive design schools also assist people financially, as these courses are expensive. An application form has to be filled by the candidate, to enroll in the automotive design school for admission. The form also specifies the financial help desired. These schools provide appropriate information in all the areas of automation and educate the candidates to repair and rebuild automotive engines.

Automotive Advertising Agencies Use Social Networks and Search Engine Algorithms to Sell More Cars

Automotive advertising agencies are challenged to provide more for less to serve a consolidating auto industry and today's Internet has provided them with the media and the methods to do it. Budget conscious consumers are firmly in the driving seat on the Internet Super Highway and auto dealers have directed their marketing messages to their online showrooms vs. their brick and mortar facilities to get their attention. More accurately, they are following their customers onto the World Wide Web and hoping that their past and pending customers will find them there.

The days of hard sell retail messages in conventional media like radio, T.V. and newspaper as well as dealer-centric banner ads and websites promoting daily dealer specials are numbered. Today's car shoppers have been empowered by the search engines to filter out dealer messages in favor of information on exactly the new or pre-owned vehicle they are searching for. In addition, Social networking communities of online friends have rallied their support and opinions to help car shoppers decide what they should buy and from which dealership they should buy it from. After all, what are friends for!

The consumers' new found source of information on the Internet to assist them in their car shopping process hasn't replaced the need for automotive advertising agencies in the retail auto industry, but it certainly has changed their role in it and the methods that they must use to earn their agency fees. The first adjustment that an automotive advertising agency must make in their business model is to recognize that the internal profits that they used to realize in their radio, T.V. and print production departments can no longer be supported by their auto dealer clients. Reduced sales volume and profit margins on the auto dealers' side of the table demand a better R.O.I. for every dollar and while these departments are still required to produce digital marketing material for online campaigns the production costs must be a fraction of previous pricing to remain competitive with the newly developing online resources that an auto dealer has access to.

The agency must still provide creative that is relevant to the market and they must define the target audience that would be most receptive to it, but once again the World Wide Web has changed the rules and automotive advertising agencies must learn what they are and follow them. Top of the mind awareness is still job one for automotive advertising agencies who understand that they can't time the buying cycle for everyone on the Internet Super Highway and therefore they must maintain a consistent message across multiple channels to be on the short list when the customer is ready to purchase a vehicle. Diversification across multiple media and frequency of targeted messages to qualified buyers isn't a new practice but the methods, media and skill sets required to get the job done have changed.

Networking and the related referrals and sales sourced from it has been an integral component of internal selling processes for auto dealers since the first vehicle was sold but it has had little to do with conventional advertising -- until now that is. Social networking and the related Internet media channels that have grown to support it are now a primary target audience for automotive advertising agencies. Word of mouth advertising has grown exponentially as viral messages travel through social networking channels with the opinions of like minded car shoppers who use these online communities of friends to share their car shopping experiences before, during and after their buying cycle.

Initial attempts by automotive advertising agencies to market to these social networks from the outside through the use of banner ads or as wolves in sheep's clothing trying to invade a network of friends were soundly rejected. Members valued each other's opinions and shared experiences over a self serving auto dealer or their automotive advertising agency.

Monetizing social networking has been a challenge but new technologies that integrate established marketing channels with social networks from the inside out have provided the solution. ronsmap, for example, is a game changing consumer-centric online inventory marketing platform that embeds a social networking engine on their communal site as well as every vehicle posted on it by participating auto dealers. Their application, vBack, provides an Ask-a-Friend / Tell-a-Friend feature that solicits feedback from friends on the various social networks that an online car shopper trusts. These influences then act as agents of the auto dealer -- without their knowledge -- under the direction of a friend which allows the automotive advertising agency to market from the inside out vs. from the outside in. C2C marketing vs. B2C marketing is the key to monetizing social networking and ronsmap is a new technology based exit on the Internet Super Highway that has opened this new channel to auto dealers.

In addition, ronsmap enhances the value of the leads generated from within the social networks by accumulating the information gathered through their SellersVantage application. In addition to the anticipated name, IP address and vehicle information requests their new Intelli-Leads include the online shopping selection and vehicle preferences of the initiating car shopper and the comments accumulated by his online network of friends. These enhanced leads allow the auto dealer to anticipate the needs of their potential customers before they open negotiations with them. As a result, the consumer is provided a more relevant and transparent vehicle selection in response to their initial inquiry and the auto dealer has a competitive edge to quote the best price on the best vehicle for the consumer. This is a win-win scenario that increases closing ratios and profits for the auto dealer while offering the consumer the advantage of the information and referrals he gathered from his online car shopping experience.

The internet is far superior to conventional media on many levels and social networking is only one of the newest reasons. Automotive advertising agencies must be prepared to direct their clients beyond marketing through social media. They must also provide more than advice on search engine optimization, S.E.O., search engine marketing, S.E.M. and banner ad placements or transparent and relevant website designs. The search engines hold the key to the Internet and understanding the algorithms that determine the rules of the road on the Internet Super Highway that they control are the responsibility of the automotive advertising agency.

Google, for example, has clearly stated the weight that they place on video vs. copy or other means of online digital marketing. Today's Internet consumer grew up watching television and the explosive growth of YouTube proves that their preference for video has survived onto the World Wide Web. One vendor that has listened to Google and their subsidiary YouTube is SiSTeR Technologies with their Video CarLot platform. SiSTer is able to take the existing pictures and vehicle information posted on an auto dealer's website and convert them into professionally produced videos.

More importantly, their videos are fully index-able with multiple schema layers making them interactive and more transparent to the online car shopper. These videos are placed on the auto dealer's website as well as any third party advertising sites that the auto dealer is linked to. In addition they are driven through a dedicated API to YouTube with individual URLs that extend the reach and frequency of the dealer's inventory and marketing messages -- a proven formula for success in conventional automotive advertising that also applies to Internet advertising.

Automotive advertising agencies are not reinventing the wheel by extending their reach and frequency with consistent messages across multiple channels by leveraging access to social networks or by manipulating the algorithms on the search engines. They are simply applying proven and established advertising wisdoms and best practices to an auto industry that has only one constant -- change!

Lost and V

More great TV tonight... I've watched Lost since the very beginning.. I actually saw it about six months before it started. I watched the pilot at comic con and was blown away. It's been an up and down roller coaster ride but for the most part I have loved every minute of it. Now with them on their last season and only have a handful of episodes left I am starting to worry that they are going to wait until the very last two hour episode to really explain anything. This last season has really taken the series in a whole new direction but I'm enjoying it. Tonight's episode involved Hurley and Libby and I loved those guys as a couple in season two and we upset when it ended.. so it's nice to see them actually kind of go back to that story in the flash sideways. They explained about the voices in the forest which was cool.. but that's about it. There were two shocking moments, both ended with a BANG!! I know they won't answer all the questions but I'm excited to see how this whole crazy story ends next month.

Now for V.. as I have said in my previous blogs about V I'm an old school fan of the original and thought the new version is far from the original it still have elements that link back to the original. I've been liking the new V. Last nights episode was enjoyable.. I wouldn't say they are great.. but they are fun.
