Popular Tribal Tattoo Ideas to Bring Out The Individualism in You

    Tribal Tattoos, although may appear to be simple at times, are undoubtedly appealing and among the most popular today. This article will help those especially new to the world of tattoos in general and particularly, Tribal Tats. The following walk through history will help shed light on some of the different Tribal Tattoo Ideas used throughout the decades.

    The most common Tribal Tats found today dates back to the polynesians who used black, geometric tatau ornaments which appeared to be silhouette-like in many ways. In Europe, sailors were attributed for the earliest Tribal Tat ideas - they originated from Tahiti and were added together with the sailors' own maritime-themed designs. Over the years, they have evolved to become what is known as traditional tattoos.

    Over in America, Leo Zulueta and Don Ed Hardy, an innovator, were both responsible for an exciting Tribal Tats boom in 1982 when they started "Tattoo Time", a magazine on tattoos. Featuring native Borneo and Samoan tattoos, it quickly popularized these tattoo ideas as a form of interesting tattoo style and design.

    As illustrated from above, these modern day tattoos have strong ties and affiliation with natives and tribes from different parts of the world. It was from there that they slowly evolved into the Tribal Tattoo ideas we have today. Although it has been said that a handful of tattoo parlors and tattoo artists would turn down tribal tattoo designs due to their simplicity, a lot of tattoo enthusiasts begs to differ. Tribal Tats, as a matter of fact, needs articulate skill to be tattooed on the difficult body parts in order for it to look naturally "grown". In addition, it has also been said that the coloring of these tattoos requires a steady hand.

    You can find an assortment of tribal tat ideas ranging from tribal armbands, flames, black, crosses, stars, tigers and an assortment of motives and designs that are based on tribal motives. Personally, I have 3 tribal tattoos tattooed on different parts of my hands - one of a tribal flame on my right shoulder, one of a tribal motive which I designed on my left shoulder and another circular tribal design on my right wrist.

    My advice to all those who are out to get their own tribal tattoos would be to pick one that you feel connected or feel strongly about. Doing so will bring out the personality and individuality in you.

Big Bang Theory

    This has been one of my favorite TV series the past few years. It's funny, witty and most important very geeky. The four main geeky guys are all so different you can't help but see bits of yourself in each one of them. Tonight's episode saw the return of Sheldon's rival Wil Wheaton and it was hilarious. Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon is the heart of the show and I'm amazed that he still hasn't won an Emmy. Any character who is paired up with Sheldon shines. It's in it's third season and there is no sign of it stopping.. if you're not watching you should be.. check it out on Mondays on CBS at 9:30pm.

    It also has one of the best theme songs, here's the extended version.

Hydraulic Cylinders For Car Safety and Comfortable Riding

    The hydraulic cylinders are known for the great power delivered by them. The enormous power that can be obtained with the help of the hydraulic cylinders have made them integral parts of all kinds of heavy equipments and heavy vehicles such as the bulldozers, forklifts, excavators etc . Unlike the olden days when the hydraulic cylinder were only used in applications like heavy equipments and manufacturing industries, today, they have found their place in conventional domestic applications such as the regular automotive parts, door stoppers, elevators etc. In fact the implementation of the concept of hydraulic cylinder in domestic applications has added great convenience and safety to our lives. When it comes to hydraulic cylinder applications in domestic applications, the conventional car parts are the best examples.

    Hydraulic Brakes For Extra Safety

    The hydraulic brakes present in the conventional cars are excellent examples for the application of hydraulic cylinder for domestic purposes. The hydraulic brakes work on the principle of piston driven hydraulic cylinder. The main advantage of the hydraulic brakes is that they multiply the force applied to the brake pedal which results in very efficient braking. Though there are some critics which claim that the hydraulic brakes have the risk of oil leak, the modern technologies have found a solution to eliminate the problem. Instead of using one piston driven slave cylinder, today's modern cars make use of two slave cylinders. As a result, even if one of the hydraulic cylinders that controls the brake fails, the other one will work. The ensures double safety in the modern cars.

    The Hydraulic Suspension For Extra Comfort

    Car modification is a hobby for many people. For some others it is just adding extra comfort. In both cases the hydraulic suspension is one of the great additions to look for. You will be well aware of the fact that only a few domestic vehicles such as the SUVs will be equipped with the hydraulic suspension from the factory. The main advantage of the hydraulic suspension is that it provides individual damping for all the four wheels and thereby offering great comfort even on the most rugged terrains. To the added advantage all the four hydraulic suspensions can be controlled individuality with the flick of a button. There is nothing to worry if your car is not pre equipped with hydraulic suspension. There are universal hydraulic suspension kits that can be attached to any car.

    Apart from the above mentioned parts, there are many other car parts where the hydraulic cylinders are used. Without doubt the hydraulic cylinders have added great safety and comfort to our lives.

    Hydraulic cylinders are indispensable when it comes to manufacturing. The author has also explained the importance of hydraulic cylinders in the manufacturing plants. His wide knowledge about hydraulic cylinders have become guides of people looking for the hydraulic cylinders.

The Streamy Awards 2010

    Today was the 2nd annual Streamy Awards (Oscars for the web). I got invited by The Guild and was excited to be attending. I had been invited last year but opted not to go so I was really looking forward to this...

    ... If I knew then what I know now I would have opted out again this year.

    Anyways, got ready around noon and found out that my 1 pair of dress pants were slightly to small and the black dress shirt I was going to wear had the top button missing. So a quick trip to Kohl's to grab another pair of pants and shirt. Got home around 2 and ate a quick lunch. Dressed and sure enough my red suspenders snapped... and I had to go with my black pair.

    Got on the road about 2:30 as I wasn't sure how long it was going to take to get to downtown LA and I needed to be there (so I thought) by 4pm for the red carpet. I got there around 3:45pm and headed in. Went to the VIP/red carpet side and found out that I was not in the right place. Instead I had to walk around the block to the front of the building and get my "general" admission ticket there and stand in line.

    First of all.. this year was very different then last years. I'd figure I would have access to The Guild cast as I was there to do a microcast for Knights of the Guild. But since everyone was in the VIP section and I was part of the general admission that was not going to happen.

    So luckily a fellow Guild crew member Andrew was in line and allowed me to join him (thank goodness for this or I would have been totally alone). We waited in line for about an hour before they let us in. Once inside we were directed to the upper balcony for seating. We did manage to get second row from the front over on the right side of the auditorium. Then we waited a half hour for the show to start.

    I won't go into great detail about the show, but will highlight some of the good and bad.

    Bad:

    * Technical issues: this is to be expected for a "live" event, just not so many all at once.)

    * Video Screens: Since I was in the upper balcony I could not see any of the activities happening with the celebrities down below, I could only hear the audio. This did many skits with the audience and it became very annoying after a while.

    * Vulgar and Raunchy humor: I don't mind smart dirty humor but this was low brow and stupid.

    * Do the gag and move on: Some of the gags were funny but then they would go on and on and on and they became less funny as they went.

    * To many homophobic and rude jokes: I'm a gay man and I know they were in jest but there is a limit and they crossed it.

    Good:

    * Felicia Day: She won Best Actress in a Comedy Series later in the show but she showed such class with her acceptance speech (best one of the night).

    * Sean Becker: He won for Best Direction in a Comedy Series. This was so well deserved as he works hard in every aspect of The Guild

    * Paul Scheer: He hosted the show and though some of the writing was horrible he came up with some pretty funny jokes and made the best of a bad situation.

    * Autotune The News: They presented a very cool youtube inspired Autotune video.. they also preformed one of there skits live and when they won their award the four of them sang their acceptance speech in harmony and it was one of the highlights of the night.

    * And of course the two male streakers, some folks didn't like but I thought it was funny and kind of lighten the mood.

    After the ceremony I couldn't find any of the Guild cast and really had had enough of this event so I headed home. I did talk with Jenni and she was working press with Tubefilter but did manage to get a few interviews with The Guild cast so I'm hoping we can do a short microcast about the event in the future.

    **** Thank you to WorldofHiglet for the screen grabs. You can see more here.

Kanji Tattoo Symbols

    Kanji Tattoo Symbols

    Kanji tattoo designs are quickly become one of the most popular tattoo designs. It is now quite common to see people sporting a tattoo that looks like cryptic Chinese alphabet. Well, firstly it is Japanese and not Chinese, though originally it was derived from Chinese. But why is this mysterious looking alphabet becoming so popular, even though the person on whom it is inked is himself not conversant with that language?

    The reason for Kanji tattoos immense popularity is that this alphabet is not really what people in the west think of as an alphabet; this is actually a symbol which represents a picture, a fable or an expression. So for example if you want to get something tattooed that represents "Love", Kanji has a letter to be able to do so or if you want a tattoo that symbolizes the fable of the hare and the tortoise, you can do it easily by using the Kanji alphabet. People generally also put the English translation next to the tattoo so that it is easily understood.
    Kanji Tattoo SymbolsKanji Tattoo Symbols
    Apart from Kanji characters, Japanese language also consists of Hiragana and Katakana letters. Hiragana is the phonetic alphabet set, used for connecting different sentences and it is not used for tattooing. Katakana characters are also used as tattoo designs. In Japanese Katakana characters are used to write foreign words and names, hence if someone wants to get their name tattooed in Japanese, one can use Katakana. But Kanji characters have been the most popular throughout the world.

    The total number of Kanji characters is close to 80,000, so there are very few tattoo artists who are really experts in Kanji and this has lead to lot of fake artists. They might not know the right Kanji character and may ink something wrong, or even if they know the symbol they might not ink it in the right way because each character is very complicated and even if a small mistake is made it can mean something entirely different. Kanji tattoos are in fact one of the most frequently removed tattoos because of the number of people who have got the wrong Kanji symbol. So when picking the tattoo artist, be very sure about the artists knowledge of Kanji, pick an artist who is proficient in Japanese.

    One can also find lot of Kanji symbols and their representations on the internet. But several of these symbols are also incorrect. So if you are picking the Kanji symbols from the internet, be sure to pick it from a trusted site which doesn't give away free tattoos. Lot of the Kanji symbols given away by these free tattoo websites are worth just what you have paid for them. Even after you have picked up a symbol from a trusted site, it is best to get it verified from a Japanese expert before getting it tattooed on your skin. It can be extremely painful to carry around a tattoo on your skin for the rest of your life which is inaccurately drawn or it means something that you didn't intend it to be.

New Dragon Tattoo

    Dragons are the mysterious creatures, usually represented as monstrous, winged and scaly serpents, with enormous claws and a crested head. The word ‘dragon’ is derived from the Latin and French words for the Greek ‘drakwu’. The term is connected with ‘derkomai’ for ‘see’ and interpreted as ‘sharp sighted’. The depictions of dragons have been incredibly complex and diverse, over the years. No

Skull Tattoos - Meanings and Variations of Skull Tattoo Designs

    Skull tattoos may appear gruesome or scary to others but those who patronized this type of tat theme actually have special meanings attached to it. They are not just tattooed on them in order to appear tough or to appear funny. In this article, we will be looking at the several variations of skull tattoo designs and the symbolism attached to them.

    The very plain skull tat is originally an old school art. It was even once an insignia for groups like bikers, prisoners or gang members during the early days. However, as body art evolves, modifications and alterations for skull tattoo also came into play. Originally, its image was scary but now you can find humorous ones as well as whimsical and colorful styles. Before, they were usually combined with symbols like dagger, crossbones, flames and rose. Nowadays, anything goes as long as it would look good on one's body or as long as it can deliver the message it wants to portray. Artists seem to be having a lot of fun portraying this symbol;from cartoon skulls to terrifying Grim Reaper to realistic skull drawings. Of course, don't forget the poison sign and the pirate symbol. It can also be noticed that this tat them is not only for the male population. The female tat enthusiasts are seem to be giving it a lot of attention and thoughts too through the portrayal of colorful sugar skulls or corpse bride tattoo.

    Those who have skull tattoos look upon it as their protection from death or their talisman. It can also be a symbol of near death experience or one's survival from a fatal accident or illness. Other's even consider it as a lucky charm. Whatever meaning the wearer wants to attached to it, the important thing it the personal connection and symbolism it has to them.

Koi Tattoos

    The popularity of Koi tattoos is growing everyday. So what makes these brightly colored fish so popular? Many just like their ornamental beauty and bold colors, while others choose a koi because of the symbolism that it represents. So what does this magnificent fish represent?

    Koi originated in China and they were introduced into Japan in the 1800's. According to Chinese legend, it is believed that if a koi succeeded in climbing the Yellow River falls to "Dragon's Gate" then it would be transformed into a dragon. This symbolizes worldly aspiration and advancement. In Japan they are considered a manly symbol and according to legend, if a koi climbs the waterfall bravely, and if they are caught, they will lay on the cutting board completely still facing their death bravely just as a samurai would. Based on that legend, the Japanese associate koi with perseverance and strength.

    Koi fish are very powerful and energetic and they can swim against the current to reach food or spawning ground. This fact also has bearing on whether people have their koi tattoo swimming up or down. It is said that if the fish is swimming upstream then you have overcome a hardship during trying times. If it is swimming down, then you are struggling with a hardship. However others translate this to mean that a koi tattoo swimming upstream represents a very independent person that has very little concern for what others think. You would rather be your own person and face the challenge of swimming against a hard current than to conform to the rules of society. This is an act of power and you cannot be deterred by anything.

    Koi symbolism is also associated with:

    * Good luck
    * Wealth
    * Bravery
    * Independence
    * Masculinity
    * Power and perseverance

    There are many varieties of koi and they vary in color and design. Many people believe that the color of the koi tattoo should be in harmony with you and your surroundings. Some of the more popular breeds and their colors are listed below:

    * Asagi - Light blue top surface with red underside
    * Bekko - Red, white or yellow with black markings
    * Butterfly Koi - These come in many colors but are known for their long fins and slender bodies
    * Goshiki - Black background with white, red, brown and light blue markings
    * Hikari Moyomono - Two colored fish with one of the colors being metallic
    * Kin Gin Rin - Reflective scales make these fish shiny metallic colored
    * Kohaku - White with red markings
    * Koromo - Ordered scales with blue edges
    * Ogon - Single colored
    * Showa - Black with red and white
    * Taisho Sanshoku or Sanke - White, red and black
    * Tancho - White with a red spot on its head
    * Utsurimono - Black and red or white or yellow

    In addition to their symbolic meanings, these tattoos are some of the most beautiful works of art that you can have on your body. Many people add water, a waterfall or flowers to their design. Another popular alternative is to have two or more koi swimming together. The possibilities are endless, and no matter what the reasoning or symbolism is behind your koi tattoo, this is one design that you will truly love forever.

Flower Tattoos

    For some strange reasons, I like designing flower tattoos more than others. Flower tattoos are mostly favored by women, they are like clothes accessories except that you can wear your tattoo to bed. It's like having a piece of art with you all the time. I find women with tattoos more appealing, sexier, more feminine and more powerful.

    The image of a tattoo can be so captivating that it stirs up all our senses. You can have a Rose tattoo with a barbed wire around it and still look very good. It's Ying and Yang, loving and sweet but authoritative and intimidating. But if you are intending to ink a flower tattoo on your body, it's best to find out the meaning of the flower and what you want it to represent. You can then combine different images to give contrasting impressions of your tattoos.

    I have compiled a list of meaning of flowers as a guide before you tattoo them on your body. I cannot vouch how official these meanings are, but my research has shown them to be fairly consistent. flower tattoos are permanent, so look around before deciding on one.

The New Cross Tattoo Designs Range From Small and Hidden to Bright, Big and Colorful

    Cross tattoo designs are popular ways to display art on the body. They are popular both among men and women. Tattoos were original to Japan and were applied to the face. Over the years there have been numerous changes in tattoos and tattoo designs. This form of body art has dramatically changed and no longer applies to simply getting a cross popular among the Celts many years ago.

    There are vast arrays of types of design ranging from Celtic to Christian crosses. They can be small and hidden or elaborate and cover an entire area. Where you decide to put the cross design depends on many factors. If you work in an arena that frowns on body art, you would not opt to have a neck or sleeve tattoo. The colors are bright and amazing to simple black or blue.

    Crosses and other religious symbols are very popular designs. They can be a small cross on your ankle to an elaborate design with intricate detail on the back. The choice is unlimited. Many who have lost a loved one choose to design a colorful cross with a name.

    Getting hearts, angels and butterflies are popular alternatives to cross designs among women. They can be small, but have a lot of color. Women tend to get art on their ankles, stomach or small of the back.

    Men generally opt for their cross to be put on the back, chest or arm. They usually opt for a cross design with symbolic meaning. The creative designs are not limited to either a man or a woman. It is no longer unacceptable for a woman to have a bold design on her arm or a man to have something on his leg. That is part of the beauty with cross tattoos, there is no significant sex or placing that is limited.

    The cross design has to be something that you admire. And are proud to wear. When you make the decision to get a cross tattoo, it should be done by someone with previous work to show you. It is permanent and the last thing you want is a design that you are unhappy with; they are made to be displayed and admired.

    The majority of cross tattoo designs are created out of remembrance to something or someone special. The tattoo is a beautiful piece of art that symbolizes what you admire. The designs can be a full colored cross or a simple one.

The Mystical Japanese Tattoo Symbols

    Due to the popularity of body art many art lovers have tried to ink the Japanese tattoo symbols in their body. During the early years, when you are in Japan, you would have tattoos of the people you would think that are associated to Yakuza, which is known to be a group of notorious Japanese criminals. But over the years, Japan has developed and the significance of body art is greatly appreciated. Presently, both the tattoo lovers and tattoo artists find the Japanese symbols attractive.

    Examples of Favorite Japanese Symbols

    1. Koi Fish - This is one of the most sought Japanese symbols used even for non-Japanese. If you visit Japan you will notice that most of the temples have Koi fish symbol. This is because the fish signifies strong determination that is very significant to the people of Japan. Likewise, the Koi fish is also a symbol of uncompromising bravery.

    Moreover, Koi fish is one of the many symbols that are used by men on their arms, back, calf areas and shoulders. Some inked this symbol in full sleeve designs while others choose the large koi tattoos. On the hand, women prefer to ink the tattoo on their arms, stomach areas and hips. The good thing about this symbol is that the color harmonizes with any skin tone.

    2. Cherry Blossoms - This flower symbolizes life and is comparable to beauty. The essential characteristic of cherry blossoms that makes it an important symbol is its ability to thrive in any weather condition though it is also delicate. In this sense, it implies that living life to the fullest is very important for us to see the beauty of life. On the other hand, living life to the fullest does not mean that we take for granted the possibility of death. That is why it is necessary that we live life on its very meaning.

    3. Hannya Masks - This mask has a demonic look that was originated in Japan's Kabuki stage play. It symbolizes jealous and hatred but Japanese believed that inking this symbol in their body would beget good fortune and keep away evil spirits.

    Before you decide to pick any Japanese tattoo symbols make sure to know first its meaning as well as what it stands for. In this way you will be confident to flaunt your body art without worrying if anyone asks you what its significance is. Moreover, you should also keep in mind that this body art would reflect your personality and it serves as self representation. Likewise, tattoo does not only add attraction but also used for sentimental reasons.

Japanese Sleeve Tattoo Designs - Comparison of Half Sleeve and Full Sleeve Japanese Tattoos

    Japanese sleeve tattoos with its rich and intricate details combined with bright colors are extremely popular among tat enthusiasts. It's becoming a mainstream and are not only getting attention from the males but with females as well. Being very exquisite and decorative, tattooing this theme can take a lot of time, even multiple session thus it can be expensive. However, the idea of sporting an aesthetically pleasing tattoo art on your arm can be really rewarding making it so much worth in the end.

    When contemplating on getting Japanese sleeve tattoos, you have two options to choose from - half sleeve or full sleeve designs. Half sleeve tattoos start from the upper arm and end near the elbows while full sleeve covers the entire arm. Normally, a full sleeve is a product of something that started out as just a half-sleeve body art and then is extended later on with complimentary designs to make it a full sleeve ink. The arm is the body part involved in this process and it is such a great canvas to work on because its shape makes way for artistic flow of various tattoo arts.

    The most common designs for Japanese sleeve tattoo are those that are part of their history and culture such as koi fish, cherry blossoms, samurai, dragon and geisha. Their symbolism and art go way beyond just tattoo designs because they hold deep significance in the Japanese psyche. They are the symbols that have been part of Japanese folklore that has lead their prominence in art and culture. They generally represent strength and courage to go through trials to achieve one's purpose in life. The kind of message that one wants to convey in his Japanese tattoos.
